The Trafford grammar schools’ entrance test (FSCE)

From 2028 entry the five Trafford grammar schools set one test, written by FSCE and based on the Key Stage 2 English and maths curriculum to the end of Year 5. From 2029 entry it moves to the summer term of Year 5.

Who sets it
Future Stories Community Enterprise (FSCE), a not-for-profit subsidiary of Reading School, appointed by the Trafford Grammar School Consortium. The same test is used by all five schools.
What it is based on
The Key Stage 2 English and mathematics national curriculum programmes of study, up to the end of Year 5. It replaces the old verbal, non-verbal and mathematical reasoning test.
For entry in September 2028
Sat in September of Year 6 (September 2027).
For entry in September 2029 onwards
Sat in the latter part of the summer term of Year 5. For a child starting secondary school in September 2029, that is the summer of 2028.

None have been published. Check each school’s admissions page for any familiarisation material the consortium releases.

What Remelia covers

The maths: the Key Stage 2 objectives for Years 3 to 5, in the order your child’s school teaches them.

Not covered: The English half of the test. Remelia teaches maths only.
