Remelia and this exam

What Remelia covers, and what it does not.

Choose the school when you set your child up, or later in Controls, and this is the plan.

What Remelia covers

Key Stage 2 maths, English and science to the end of Year 5, counted towards the exam; the writing, in part.

  • Maths

The Key Stage 2 objectives for Years 3 to 5, in the order your child’s school teaches them, counted towards the exam.

  • English

Grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary questions most days, Years 3 to 5, counted towards the exam.

  • Reading

From the autumn of Year 5, a weekly reading day: one unseen passage and 9 questions on it, from a bank of 130 passages.

  • Science

The Key Stage 2 science programme of study for Years 3 to 5, asked as reasoning over what the question gives: fair tests, tables and graphs, circuits, keys and food chains, and 41 short scenarios to read and answer from, mixed into the sessions and counted towards the exam.

  • The writing In part

Short timed pieces that a grown-up marks at home with ticks: one a fortnight from the spring of Year 4, one a week from the autumn of Year 5. They practise part of what the exam’s writing asks; they are not its paper, and they are not counted towards the exam.

  • The last fortnight

In the last 14 days before the exam date the plan works to, sessions are shorter and nothing new is introduced. The plan works to July of Year 5; until the school publishes the day for your child’s year, that date is an estimate.

Not covered

The other subjects FSCE may ask about, such as history and geography and the test’s own format.

  • The other subjects FSCE may ask about, such as history and geography

    Not practised.

  • The test itself

Remelia practises the content, not Future Stories Community Enterprise’s own screens, papers or timings: the familiarisation materials, where there are any, show those.

  • English papers in this test’s style

The printable English practice papers in the parents’ app are in the style of the FSCE test’s multiple-choice paper, not Future Stories Community Enterprise’s own.

What has changed
Test moved from September of Year 6 to July of Year 5 for 2027 entry (16 July 2026; SEND 15 July), after consultation; out-of-catchment day applicants still sit in late September. When the school switched to FSCE was not confirmed from its own pages. Source
