Remelia and this exam

What Remelia covers, and what it does not.

Choose the school when you set your child up, or later in Controls, and this is the plan.

What Remelia covers

Key Stage 2 maths, English and science to Year 6, and verbal and non-verbal reasoning, counted towards the exam.

  • Maths

The Key Stage 2 objectives for Years 3 to 6, in the order your child’s school teaches them, counted towards the exam.

  • English

Grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary questions most days, Years 3 to 6, counted towards the exam.

  • Reading

From the autumn of Year 5, a weekly reading day: one unseen passage and 9 questions on it, from a bank of 130 passages.

  • Verbal reasoning

21 of the question types in GL Assessment’s verbal reasoning familiarisation papers (letter and number series, codes, logic puzzles, word puzzles and word meanings), mixed into the sessions and counted towards the exam. The types a test sets can differ from year to year.

  • Non-verbal reasoning

13 question types from the providers’ own sample material (shape series and grids, pairs, similarities, odd one out, codes, rotation, reflection, hidden shapes, folding and punching, and nets), each a drawing with five options, mixed into the sessions and counted towards the exam. The types a test sets can differ from year to year, and from provider to provider.

  • Science

The Key Stage 2 science programme of study for Years 3 to 6, asked as reasoning over what the question gives: fair tests, tables and graphs, circuits, keys and food chains, and 41 short scenarios to read and answer from, mixed into the sessions and counted towards the exam. Year 6 science is in the plan too: all 15 of its objectives have notes, and one so far has questions; the rest are named as not covered yet.

  • The last fortnight

In the last 14 days before the exam date the plan works to, sessions are shorter and nothing new is introduced. No month is published, so the plan works to January of Year 6, when most GL Assessment tests are sat: an estimate.

Not covered

Spatial reasoning, quran kareem and arabic reading, quantitative ability tasks and the test’s own format.

  • Spatial reasoning

Remelia does not teach spatial reasoning.

  • Quran kareem and arabic reading

    Not practised.

  • Quantitative ability tasks

    Not practised.

  • The test itself

Remelia practises the content, not GL Assessment’s own screens, papers or timings: the familiarisation materials, where there are any, show those.

  • English papers in this test’s style

The printable English practice papers in the parents’ app are in the style of the FSCE test’s multiple-choice paper, not GL Assessment’s own.
